Vikram Ambal Sarabhai (12 Aug 1919 - 30 Dec 1971 ) is a great physicist and industrialist whose lifestyle was very simple and he has got the title of father of Indian space program. With the help of his work nuclear power was developed in India. Sarabhai is also credited with establishing Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro).

Honour
- The Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, (VSSC), a research institute specialising in solid and liquid propellants for rockets located in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), capital of Kerala state, is named in his memory.
- In 1974, the International Astronomical Union at Sydney decided that a Moon Crater BESSEL in the Sea of Serenity will be known as the Sarabhai Crater.
In 1942, Vikram Sarabhai published his first scientific paper "Time distribution of cosmic Ray's".

In 1945 he received his Ph.D. on 'cosmic ray investigations in tropical latitudes'.
In 1947, Sarabhai established his first institute 'Atira'. The aim of which was to modernize the textile industry of India.

On 11 November 1947, he established the Physical Research Laboratory in Ahmedabad.
On 11 December 1961, Vikram Sarabhai and Kasturba Lalbhai along with the Government of India, the Government of Gujarat, Harvard Business School and many other types of Indian personalities established the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad ( IIM ).
In 1962 , he played a pivotal role in the establishment of the center for environment planning and technology University ( CEPT UNIVERSITY ) in Ahmedabad .
In 1962, the Indian National Committee for Space Research was established, which was later renamed the Indian Space Research Organization ( ISRO ) .
Sarabhai also set up the thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station in Southern India.
In 21 November 1963 , The Launch of the First Sounding Rocket form thumba near Thiruvananthapuram , Kerala .
In 1965 The Nehru Foundation for Development Charitable Trust was established by Vikram Sarabhai for rural development and environmental awareness.
In 1966 Vikram Sarabhai was made Chairman of Atomic Energy after the death of Homi J Bhabha.
